ABOUT ANDINO PHOTOGRAPHY
Hello Amigos! My name is Claudio, I’m Chilean migrant, social worker and hopefully your future photographer!
I was born and raised in Chile, and after living a big part of my life in Chile, many adventures brought me to USA in 2016.
In Chile, I was a trained psychologist and worked as a school counselor for many years. Photography was my hobby but also a passion that helped him connect with people and unleash my creativity. Once decided to move to the states, I made the bold move of following my heart, changing careers to become a professional photographer.
Working to grow our small business while also giving back to the community is our ultimate goal and passion. I aspire for a fair world, and find tools to do so in photography and representation, aiming to highlight as many underrepresented communities as possible.
WHAT WE DO AND WHY WE DO IT
Andino Photography creates photographs that capture our clients’ most memorable moments by providing fun, honest, photo sessions that celebrate storytelling and authenticity, all while honoring diversity and mutual understanding. We aim to foster a genuine, creative space to help our clients and community grow while seeing themselves positively represented through the art of photography.
SOCIAL IMPACT
As a psychologist for nearly 4 years in Chile, I observed that talents and skills were spread equally among populations, but due to a lack of resources in underserved communities (hello, systemic racism and classism) we end up seeing the same groups of people succeed over and over again. It reminded me of the adage, “if you can see it, you can be it.” But what if you never see someone who looks like you amongst your heroes?
At Andino Photography we believe that everybody deserves positive, accurate representation. We also know the power of reciprocity. The more you give in life, the more you get back. It’s that easy. That’s why one of our core values is giving back to our community. Since 2016, we have collaborated with organizations across Chicago who work hard to support underrepresented communities. Andino Photography has donated free photo sessions to organizations like Little Black Dress, Honeycomb Network, Chitech Academy, Peace Day Chicago, Centro Romero, Chicago Fair Trade and more.
COVID-19 POLICIES
We believe in science and that by protecting ourselves we protect our communities from the spread of COVID-19. That’s why we enforce the following policies during every photoshoot:
The photographer will use a mask during the whole session. Participants are asked to use masks before and after the active photoshoot.
The photographer will stand at minimum six feet away from all participants.
Hand sanitizer will be provided before, during and after the photoshoot for all participants.
The photo session will be rescheduled if the photographer or any participant feels sick or has had known contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. Honesty and transparency is important for us.
We prioritize the safety of my clients. I, as your photographer, get tested for COVID-19 regularly (8 negatives results to date, yay!).
All consultations, photo review and selection will be held online until further notice.
